Databases with Mobile Editions & Mobile Apps

There are many library databases that can be used with an iPhone, Blackberry or other mobile device, but several of our database vendors now offer mobile versions of their search interfaces. Others even offer downloadable apps.

Databases with Mobile Web Sites

EBSCOhost Databases – Mobile
EBSCOhost Mobile
From there, just choose which EBSCO databases you would like to search.

*Note: Your mobile device must have javascript enabled in order to use EBSCOhost Mobile.
BlackBerry users can refer to the following link for information on enabling javascript:

WorldCat Mobile
Search for library books and other library materials by entering title, author, or keywords. Then enter your zipcode (or, if you want RMU to come up near the top of the list if we have the item you're looking or, enter the RMU zipcode: 15108).

JSTOR Mobile
The JSTOR Mobile site is a mobile site rather than a downloadable app, so it should work with Blackberry and Android browsers as well as iPhone and iPad.

It is best to use to search for articles on JSTOR and then emailing citations to yourself to read on a full computer screen; however, if your phone has the ability to zoom, reading article content is certainly possible.

Databases with Mobile Apps

EBSCO Mobile App
The new iPhone app is available for free from the iTunes App Store. RMU users just need to navigate to any EBSCO database interface page through the RMU Library web site, scroll down to the bottom of the search page and click on “New:EBSCOhost iPhone / iPod Touch application.” From there, you will input your RMU email address; after this, you will receive an automatic email message from EBSCO with a link that will activate your access to the EBSCO Mobile App.

DynaMed on PDA devices
To obtain a DynaMed serial number for obtaining a DynaMed ap for your iPhone or other mobile device, send us an email with your request.

For more information about DynaMed on mobile devices see:

For iPhone, specifically, see:

Elsevier SciVerse Mobile Apps
Science Direct and SCOPUS apps are available for free from the iTunes App Store. SciVerse users must first set up a Science Direct username and password, if you have not already established one. To do this, first access Science Direct through the RMU Library site (, then go to:

Science Direct Registration

After completing the registration process, you will receive an automatic email message from Science Direct with a link that will activate your access to SciVerse ScienceDirect iPhone app.
